Hope Initiatives

DIG was honored to collaborate with ANSA Nutrition, Project Africa, Food for Thought Sonoma County Food Bank for People Living with HIV/AIDS, Operation Lionheart, and Hope Initiatives of Namibia to create a garden at their new center in the Kilimanjaro settlement just outside the capital of Windhoek.  Hope Initiatives was founded by a Zimbabwean couple named Patricia Sole and John Mafukidze.  They started out feeding a few orphans and vulnerable children out of their car and now they have developed an organization that provides education, play groups for children, therapy, vocational training, and a feeding center for over 400 orphaned and vulnerable children.  The garden that was established at their new center will help supplement their food supply and be an educational tool for the population living in the settlements.
